What we are offering

Comprehensive training to qualify as a Public Building Energy Assessor (PBEA) Level 3, we will provide you with all the education, training, and materials required to gain your Diploma in Commercial Energy Assessment.

The Diploma is issued by ABBE www.abbeqa.co.uk and is a Level 3 VRQ.

Diploma structure:


ABBE Qualification DipDEC Level 3

As described above, this is a qualification designed to train people to the standard required for completing energy assessments on properties in accordance with Level 3 requirements.

Once the Qualification is complete you will be able to apply for accreditation without any further requirements.

Quidos DipDEC Level 3 Training Schedule of Events

The course is intended to be run over a period of two or four consecutive days and will incorporate a selection of practical and written activities, including slide show presentations and sample (virtual) properties that candidates can practise inputting data etc…  The idea being to make the course as hands on as possible

An example of the Schedule is as follows:

Day 1 Commercial building construction

  • Recognising commonly occurring commercial building constructions
  • Determining the age of commercial property
  • Measuring and Survey techniques
  • Sources of information

Day 2 Building Services

  • Basic principles
  • Heating systems – heat generation and distribution
  • Comfort cooling systems
  • Hot water provision
  • Sources of information
  • Lighting Systems
  • Basic principles
  • Lighting – Identifying and recording different light sources
  • Controls

Day 3&4 DEC software

  • Principles of Operational Ratings and calculation
  • The structure of the software
  • Data assembly and input rules
  • Entering Area and Energy usage details
  • Assessing the property and creating detailed Advisory Reports
  • Generating the DEC and AR including lodgement
  • Details of ABBE portfolio requirements and assessor information supplied
