Non Domestic Energy Assessor L4 Training

Quidos is an ABBE (Awarding Body for the Built Environment) approved training centre. Structuring our courses in accordance with the guidelines provided by ABBE, we aim to provide you with consistently high-quality training throughout the duration of your diploma.
About the Diploma
The DipNDEA Level 4 course is designed for candidates who have achieved level 3 NDEA and are developing their qualifications further, or for candidates who want to complete levels 3 and 4 within a single block of training.
The course is structured to allow increased concentration on practical site visits, giving trainee NDEAs even more hands-on experience. During the initial two-day course, trainees will receive a comprehensive introduction to more complex building systems involved within the practice of non-domestic energy assessment and receive guidance on how to correctly input data into the relevant software programme. The majority of the two days will be spent on site visits, complemented by post-course distance learning to further develop knowledge and expertise.
Diploma Structure
The DipNDEA L4 course is run over a period of two consecutive days (9:00 am - 17:00 pm). Prior to the course, trainees will be sent a manual with extensive technical information, which they must read and begin to gain some understanding. The course can then focus on applying this information to practical situations. This structure allows trainees to gain more applied knowledge of the work required.
The content covered within the course includes:
- Learning how to calculate U-values
- Introduction into Mechanical Ventilation
- Air Conditioning
- Heat Recovery Systems
- MTHW / HTHW Boilers / Controls
- Air Permeability / Air Con Certificates / Duct work
- Low and Zero Carbon Technology
- Guidance on Portfolio Completion
During the two days, trainees will visit two examples buildings, at which full instruction will be given about how to assess their energy efficiency to the highest standard.
Following this training period, the distance-learning elements of the training are incorporated within two forms of assessment. These require you to:
- Pass an exam based on the L4 NDEA course syllabus. The exam consists of multiple choice questions and requires a score of 70% to pass.
- Submit a portfolio of five Energy Performance Certificates on a range of existing commercial properties (EPCs).
Candidates will be required to produce each one of these EPCs up to current industry standard.
In order to assist you in the revision for your exam and completion of your portfolio, you will be allocated an assessor who will provide you with guided learning advice and assistance on all the technical issues you will come across during the completion of your diploma.
Qualifications needed
You will need to be a qualified Level 3 NDEA. Any further commercial experience will help you greatly due to the extra knowledge needed compared to the L3 diploma.
Post Qualification
To practice as a non domestic energy assessor, you will need to be accredited through a government-authorised body. Quidos operates one of these accreditation schemes and having taken your training through us you will automatically qualify. Quidos accreditation for non domestic energy assessors is free of charge.
