CPD Requirement Guidelines

Continuous Professional Development helps assessors stay abreast of industry developments, learn complimentary new skills, and helps to ensure best practice is maintained. In the rapidly expanding field of energy management it is now more crucial than ever to keep up to date.

How much CPD does Quidos ask for?

Quidos Accreditation requires members to complete at least of 10 hours of CPD every year. To ensure that your hours are relevant, we ask that you submit your CPD hours for approval.

"Continuous Professional Developmentrepresents a commitment to keeping up to date with relevant industry developments, maintaining and improving professional conduct and yourcapabilities as an energy assessor."

CPD must therefore be fully targeted towards your chosen field of energy assessment, so courses in say, web design would not gain approval. We do acknowledge that many assessors are also self employed or in charge of start-up companies, so CPD in essential business skills are often approved.

So what counts for CPD?

It would be impossible to give an exhaustive list, so this is offered purely as a guide. I fyou are in any doubt, then please seek prior approval before committing to  acourse or event;

  • Attending an approved CPD course or training day
  • e-Learning courses and tutorials from Quidos e-Learning, or an approved provider
  • Relevant, hosted, seminar days, conferences or exhibitions e.g. HEVAR, Ecobuild
  • Self-directed or informal learning e.g. reading professional journals or relevant publications and taking notes. See below for examples.
  • Energy assessment course e.g. NDEA training for a DEA or ACEA training for NDEA
  • Relevant professional or vocational training courses, whether or not they lead to a formal qualification e.g. builder services training.
  • Learning from other related industry professionals e.g. shadowing a surveyor

What does not count?

  • Informal meetings of professionals
  • Energy Assessor online forums
  • Course topics not relevant to energy assessment or professional skills

Approved reading material

Some of your CPD hours can be gained for FREE by completing informal learning. Quidos offers a list of approved reading material, which can be accessed here. You can also find additional material on relevant websites e.g. ABBE. If you are in any doubt, then please check with the accreditation team.

How do I plan and record my CPD?

It is recommended that energy assessors plan their future learning by assessing their own skills and knowledge and identifying any areas for improvement. Suitable opportunities to improve these areas can then be identified. Quidos has created an individual CPD log for accredited members to record their CPD activities, click here to download.

What if I am transferring from another scheme?

All energy assessors who are transferring their accreditation to Quidos will need to demonstrate up-to-date industry knowledge by providing a CPD record for the previous year.

Does Quidos provide any CPD?

Quidos organises a range of targeted CPD events for all energy assessor, including seminar days, master classes, and talks.
