Air Conditioning Energy Assessor L4 Training

As of January 4th 2011, all air-conditioning systems in the U.K. which have an effective rated output of more than 12 kw are required to have had their first energy inspection completed on the units. For units with an output over 250 kw, the requirement has been in place since 2009.

The energy inspection will identify any shortcomings in system efficiency, as well as helping to reduce electricity consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions.

Air-conditioning systems have been split into various levels of complexity.

The Level 4 Diploma will enable you to complete air-conditioning reports on all centralised systems: this includes any system incorporating air-handling units, chillers, fan coil units, chilled beams and mechanical ventilation.

An insight into the Qualification...

In order to be able to complete ACRs on centralised systems, candidates need to complete the ABBE L4 Diploma in Air-Conditioning Energy Assessment (ACEA L4). The four units that candidates are required to demonstrate their competence in are:

The E-Learning Quidos training course is completed entirely online through our bespoke online training platform. The course is based around a series of comprehensive video tutorials and case-study walkthroughs, all presented by a fully qualified mechanical engineer. Candidates will have access to the online modules throughout the durations of their diploma, and will be able to access the material as and when they require.

There are two assessment criteria that need to be completed in order to attain the full qualification:

  • Pass an exam based upon the ACEA L4 course syllabus.
  • Complete a portfolio of 4 ACRs on all air-conditioning systems that candidate will encounter at Level 4.

Once candidates have passed the exam and completed the portfolio, they will be awarded the qualification and be ready to practice as an accredited L4 air-conditioning energy assessor.
