All residential properties put up either for sale or rent within the United Kingdom require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). The EPC provides potential tenants/home-owners/landlords with information regarding the energy performance of the building, as well as providing cost-effective recommendations for reducing household energy bills.
EPCs can only be completed by qualified and accredited domestic energy assessors. Completing the ABBE qualification in Domestic Energy Assessment will qualify you to complete EPCs on all existing domestic properties.
An insight into the Qualification…
In order to be able to complete EPCs, candidates need to complete the ABBE L3 Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment (DEA L3). The qualification is comprised of a mix of classroom and distance learning elements, and will ensure that trainees have complied with each of the elements of the National Occupation Standards (NOS) for Domestic Energy Assessment.
The classroom element of the training course lasts three days, and takes place at our Head Offices in Bath. Once candidates have completed the classroom training days a portfolio of 5 EPCs on a range of domestic properties has to be completed.
Once candidates have passed and completed the portfolio, they will be awarded the qualification and be ready to practice as an Accredited domestic energy assessors.
