Software Information

Along with both iQ-Energy and AIRS our inhouse software solutions for Domestic and Air Conditioning assessors, when accredited with Quidos, you will have access to a range of third party software packages, for  use when conducting assessments and lodging reports. The majority of these packages are available free of charge to accredited members in addition to our in house software.

To find out more information about the developers of each of the packages, please click on the appropriate links on the right hand side or scroll down.

PS Energy

  • For use by Domestic Energy Assessors
  • Free license for Quidos accredited members
  • www.ps-energy.co.uk

The PS Energy RdSAP Software, developed by Handheld Systems Ltd, is a market-leading package for domestic energy assessments as used by many DEAs, estate agents, and social housing surveyors.

This software is available for use on desktops, laptops and pocket PCs. It also has unique electronic site notes features, making the QA audits conducted by Quidos a one-click system.

PS Energy software gives you complete control over your data by utilising a local database, allowing you to generate energy performance certificates without fear of incurring lodgement fees for unwanted assessments.
Social housing clients can integrate their energy assessments into Stock Condition & Decent Homes surveys, with features such as EPC Cloning, Bulk Processing, Customised Analysis and Reporting and Housing Management System Integration.

This software also includes an advanced lodgement portal, which uses a unique 'Visit List' address generation system for job management, allowing you to see a complete history of your lodgements, download EPC graphs for estate agents, validate data and manage your jobs and addresses.

iSBEM

  • For use by Non Domestic Energy Assessors
  • Free license for Quidos accredited members

iSBEM software for Level 3 and Level 4 Energy Assessors

iSBEM is an interface for SBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model), and enables users to assess the energy performance of non-domestic buildings in compliance with the National Calculation Methodology (NCM). By inputting data relating to construction type, HVAC and geometry, users are able to construct an accurate representation of a building's energy performance, which is then compared with a standard reference building in order to produce a numerical rating for its emission rate.

The user is then required to complete a Recommendation Report for the building, highlighting areas in which the energy performance of the building may be improved. The Recommendations Report and the numerical rating are then combined to produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which offers prospective clients an overview of the building's energy performance as well as advice on how to reduce carbon emissions.

DesignBuilder

DesignBuilder is a high productivity replacement for the basic BRE iSBEM program and is widely regarded for efficiently generating Level 3 and 4 EPCs in the UK and BERs in Ireland. It also provides checks against Part-L2 of the England and Wales Building Regulations, Section 6 of Scottish Building Regulations, Part F in Northern Ireland and Part-L in Republic of Ireland.

The software uses an advanced 3-D graphical interface and other features which enables Energy Assessors to produce EPCs much quicker than with other software tools.

Key features include:

  • Floor plans can be imported from CAD drawings or scanned paper drawings.
  • Drawing tools that allow even complex building geometries to be quickly modelled.
  • Efficient data entry through a data inheritance scheme that allows data to be loaded for the whole building or parts of the building.
  • Automatic generation of EPCs and Recommendations report as XML files.
  • Integration into the Quidos Accreditation scheme to allow EPCs to be lodged on the Landmark database.

ORCalc

  • For use by Public Building Energy Assessors
  • Free licence for accredited members

ORCalc (Operational Rating Calculation) is a software package which allows users to create Display Energy Certificates (DECs) for all public buildings which require their energy usage and performance to be monitored. Through the input of information including building category, energy consumption and building occupancy, users are able to generate both an Operational Rating and an Advisory Report, which combine together to produce a completed DEC.

The Operational Rating provides members of the public with information regarding the energy consumption of the building over a year-long period, whilst the Advisory Report includes a number of recommendations which if acted upon will help improve the energy performance of the building. With the ORCalc software ranking a building's rating on a grading scale from best to worst, the resulting Display Energy Certificate will alert both staff and members of the public to the energy consumption of the building in comparison to others.
