How do I become Accredited?

To become an accredited energy assessor with Quidos there are two routes available: Qualification and APEL. The route you take depends on your current level of experience.

Accreditation through Qualification

If you are currently training, or have already qualified as a DEA, NDEA,PBEA (DEC) or ACEA, you are applicable to the Qualification route. You should hold a diploma in the above qualifications issued by ABBE, City & Guilds or NAEA.

If you are already qualified as an energy assessor, simply apply to join our accreditation scheme by clicking here.

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

The Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) route is designed to allow experienced practitioners within similar industries to gain accreditation in energy assessment.

In order to obtain accreditation via APEL, applicants must satisfy all items set out in the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for energy assessors. Applicants are required to have a minimum of 2 years experience in their chosen strand of energy assessment.

The APEL Process:

  1. Pre-Assessment: Applicants are advised to submit all necessary documentation for a formal assessment on their skills and experience in their chosen strand of energy assessment.
  2. Stage 1 Assessment: A formal assessment is made of the applicant’s skills and experience by the APEL assessor. A professional interview will be undertaken and, if required, top-up training will be recommended. Provisional accreditation is granted.
  3. Stage 2 Assessment: Applicants are required to produce a set of live jobs for assessment against the National Occupational Standards in order to achieve full accreditation.

Our APEL Accreditation for all strands is £495.

All prices exclude VAT BUT include the initial application fee of £145.
