Quidos Commercial Energy Assessor Training

What we are offering:

Comprehensive training to qualify as a Commercial Energy Assessor (CEA) Level 3, we will provide you with all the education, training, and materials required to gain your Diploma in Commercial Energy Assessment.

The Diploma is issued by ABBE www.abbeqa.co.uk which is one of the 3 authorised qualification awarding bodies. The Diploma is a Level 3 VRQ.

Diploma structure:

Bespoke Training: ABBE vs APEL

To enable you to practice as a commercial energy assessor you must be accredited with a government approved accreditation body, however unlike Domestic Energy Assessors, there is more than one route to commercial accreditation.

These two routes are as follows:

  • ABBE Qualification DipNDEA Level 3

As described above, this is a qualification designed to train people to the standard required for completing energy assessments on properties in accordance with Level 3 requirements.

Once the Qualification is complete you will be able to apply for accreditation without any further requirements.

This option is suitable for those with a background in domestic energy assessing, or general property surveying.

  • APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning)

The APEL application route has been given approval by the CLG and Asset Skills Council for application to practice as a CEA because unlike their domestic counterparts, there are a number of existing CEA’s presently working in the market, who already have the necessary skills to practice at their desired level.

The Quidos APEL route shall involve a number of stages to complete, initially a skills audit form will be required to be completed to assess the suitability for a candidate to continue with the APEL route, and this will involve a number of questions based around NOS requirements upon which a final decision will be made.

If a candidate is accepted to proceed down the APEL route they will then be assigned an assessor who will guide them through the rest of the process which will involve providing evidence to support their initial claims.

This option is suitable for those with experience in the commercial energy assessment market, preferably with either two years experience or existing membership to a professional body such as CIBSE and has produced a number of EPC’s.

We do however recognise that there may be individuals who have trained to complete commercial EPC’s and as such if professional competency can be proven we will also consider these applications.

Modular Breakdown

As part of the APEL route it may be deemed that there are candidates who show 80% competency in fulfilling the requirements however have shortfalls of knowledge in one or more specific areas.

This has led to the modular breakdown of our training course which will help to fill those gaps, without the unnecessary attendance of a formal government approved qualification, thus saving time and money.

The course as presently structured will therefore be broken down into the following modules:

Module 1 – Building Construction and Measurement
                  HVAC and Water Heating Systems
                  Lighting Systems and Controls

Module 2 - Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM)

Further details of each module will be available shortly.

How much will it cost, and what does it include?
